Le modèle créé en 1939

This long three-seats sofa presents a straight backrest, slightly tilted, outlined with a piping and two large rounded armrests. It is entirely re-upholstered with a beige mohair velvet, also used to upholstered the model «Ours polaire» and stands on four rectangular oak feet. Very elegant, this model is part of the great classic created by Jean Royère. Created in 1939 under the name ‘Orange’, this model is placed in many important collections throughout the creator’s career. Nowadays, became an icon of the XXth century decorative arts, this sofa is part of the most prestigious French and international collections.

Provenance :
This sofa comes from a private collection, from Brittany where Jean Royère himself had a house. This sofa stayed in the family who ordered it, until the galerie Chastel-Maréchal buys it. Before its restoration, this sofa was upholestered with a fabric by Paule Marrot.
