Jean Royère (1902 -1981)

"Orange" salon suit
circa 1952

This salon suite is composed by a three-seater sofa and two armchairs. The sofa and each armchair present a straight backrest and two curved armrests. The set is entirely re-upholstered with a beige mohair velvet. Each piece stands on four rectangular varnished oakwood. During the restoration of this set, several structural points have been gone back over, in order to return to the resolutely modern aesthetic of Jean Royère : The original height of the sofa has be rediscovered by our upholsterer : the back had been raised with a wooden sleeper during a former restoration (see photo A ‘before restoration’, a long wooden piece added all along the back of the sofa). We also have recovered the wooden structures of the back of the sofa and armchairs, lightly deformed over time. Several sleepers have been filled by a thin wooden strip (see photo A ‘before restoration’).

Sofa : Height 70 cm (45 ¾ in) - Length 220 cm (106 ¼ in) - Depth 100 cm (35 ½ in)
Armchair : Height 73 cm (28 ¾ in) - Width 85 cm (33 ½ in) - Depth 95 cm (37 ½ in)
